Great, grey beasts holding secrets in their trunks, startled when I shouted, “Enough! We can see you.”
Trumpeting, they left, spewing truths around the room. We scooped up brittle pieces, examining them while they crumbled.
“Were they always this fragile?” we wondered.

I loved your last line.
These elephants in the room can seem so overwhelming, yet once they’ve gone we wonder why we were so frightened of them.

Thanks! Yeah, I think sometimes it’s more the fear of what we can’t say, than the thing itself, because once you get it out in the open, you normally just feel relieved.

That last line was poignant. You would think that a truth would be strong, but some are not.

Sometimes a small truth becomes a much bigger thing when we avoid talking about it, you know?

Sometimes the elephants in the room are fragile, and sometimes it’s those of us who are in the room with them that break.

Now THAT is true and also a very well-worded statement.

Oh! Yes – I see what you mean! We had two different approaches to chasing off our elephants. I love how your confronted yours directly like that. Fantastic.

Interesting, right? That we both went in the same direction with the question…yet not. I was really excited to see what people did this week, since it was such an unusual question.

I think it’s inspiring that they were so fragile. If only people would speak up more often.

I agree, and even though speaking up isn’t always the best route, it generally makes things better.

Yeah, these gargleblasters a little different, aren’t they? But they are also really fun!

Sometimes the elephants are fragile and sometimes it can be the truth that crumbles and lies about the room in brittle pieces. Now I’m thinking too much.
The story is stellar. Thanks.

No, you aren’t thinking too much…that’s how I thought of it, too! Thanks!

This was insanely clever. I wish I had something funny or sarcastic to say, but I don’t. All I can say is, if your upcoming novel is even half as clever as this then you’ve got a real winner.
